The gala apple tree we planted spring 2014 looks like it has died. The leaves have turned brown.
Was it the poor hole I dug? I remember, even though I dug a deep hole, I’d never broken past the clay layer.
Was it poor watering? We use water sparingly. We didn’t soak the ground twice a week like sites suggested.
Was it the heat? This spot gets no shade.
I’ll replace it with another fruit tree. Maybe a Jonathan apple or a peach.
